What do I need to make shrimp tacos?
Corn or flour tortillas -I like to use corn, but there are so many varieties now that you can use what your family likes.
Shrimp -I like to use shrimp that has been peeled and deveined. It makes life so easy!
Garlic cloves -grated or minced sticks to the shrimp for the best garlic flavor.
Olive oil -I use my extra virgin Greek olive oil because it adds deep flavor to the seasoning.
Salt & freshly cracked black pepper -everyone likes a varying amount of salt and pepper, so add the amount that’s best for your family.
Ground cumin -adds earthy, nutty smokiness to the shrimp.
Crushed red pepper flakes -we like a lot of heat, but add as much as you want.
Onion powder -pairs perfectly with garlic and adds a touch of sweetness.
Ground paprika -you can use regular, smoked, or your favorite to round out the seasonings.
What’s in the sauce?
Mayonnaise -a great base you can flavor for the perfect sauce.
Sour cream -has the same consistency as mayo but adds a bit of tang.
Garlic clove -grated or minced to melt into the sauce and distribute evenly.
Sriracha sauce -a tangy, sweet, and spicy.
Frank’s hot sauce -this has vinegar in it, so it really elevates the sauce and brings it all together.
What are some topping ideas?
Shredded cabbage -it’s the perfect lettuce for shrimp tacos because it’s more hearty. I like to season it with white or balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper to continue building the flavors of each taco.
Cheddar or Mexican shredded cheese -use your favorite or what you have on hand.
Diced avocados -I squeeze lots of lime juice over the avocado after I cut it up to keep it nice and green.
