What are Kritsinia?
Kritsinia are crunchy breadsticks that are usually made with yeast. They’re sold in every bakery throughout Greece. They’re made using yeasted bread dough and baked to a crispy perfection.
This recipe is a quick version and doesn’t require any yeast. It’s also vegan and loaded with flavor.
I roll them in “Everything Bagel Seasoning” that I bought from the supermarket. If you can’t find it , I’ve included a recipe below.
How to Make Homemade Everything Bagel Seasoning
Feel free to adjust the amounts to suit your taste:
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 2 tablespoons granulated garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons granulated onion powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
Toss all of the ingredients together and store them in an airtight container in a cool dry place.

These taste amazing all on their own. If you’re the type that enjoys a little something savory with your coffee then, these are perfect. They actually taste more like a savory cookie. Very delicious.

- 2 cups (250 grams) all-purpose flour
- 1 and ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup (150 grams) olive oil
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning for topping
Preheat the oven to 350 °F, 180 °C.
In the bowl of a tabletop mixer that has been fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the olive oil, water, and sugar.
Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and whisk them together.
Add the flour to the mixer and mix on low speed until combined.
Transfer to a bowl and allow it to rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Roll the dough out into a rectangle that is ½ inch thick.
Cut into 16-17 strips and roll them into cylinders.
Place the sesame seeds or the everything bagel seasoning into a shallow bowl.
Roll each cylinder in the seeds and place them on a baking tray that has been lined with parchment paper.
Bake on the center rack for about 35-40 minutes.
Allow them to cool completely and serve with your favorite dips.
Store leftovers in an airtight container and at room temperature.
