Here is another classic Greek main course that is healthy and vegetarian. It is also gluten free.
All of my friends know that I'm not the biggest fan of fried food. I'll avoid frying things any chance I get, but this delicious little appetizer is so good that I'll bust out my frying equipment and clean the oil splatter gladly :)
This cake is so easy to make. It's light and delicious. In Greece, it is very common to bake with olive oil. That is how this cake is made. I used a light green olive oil. You may substitute vegetable oil if you don't have olive oil. It's loaded with healthy walnuts and then drenched in a yummy honey syrup right after it's baked.
I made these delicious little cookies for my cooking class this past week. I had lots of egg whites left over after making vanilla pudding, so I decided to make these yummy, light, Italian confections. They're super easy to make and make a nice gift :) Oh, and they're "Gluten Free!"
Nothing is more "Greek" than this dish!! My favorite way to eat lamb is the way my dad makes it every Easter; on the spit with lots of ladolemono (lemony olive oil dressing). Since, I don't have a spit and my dad lives in N.Y (very sad face), I roast my lamb in the oven, which is WAY easier.... I like to roast the lamb with potatoes. They soak up all that delicious flavor and are to die for. Plus, that way all I have to do is toast some bread and put a nice salad together and just like that, dinner is served!
The first time I ate pesto pizza was here in Texas in a "gourmet pizzeria" and spent more than a pretty penny for it. I'm sorry, but I expect a little more than a dollop of cheese on my pizza! Maybe, I'm asking for too much...
As a born and raised New Yorker, I LOVE PIZZA!!!! Real pizza, from the small hole in the wall pizzerias in every NY neighborhood that have been there at least for 2 generations.... I really missed it when I moved down here to the land of "Papa Johns, Little Caesars and the many other so called corporate pizza shops". Now don't get me wrong, things are changing and there are some really descent pizzerias here too....finally! I've discovered though, that a really good pizza is not that hard to make. It's a lot of fun too!! All the components, the dough, sauce and toppings, can be prepared a day ahead and the final product can be made the day of. Your family and friends will really enjoy the pizza making experience. Here's how you can make it at home:
Hi, I'm Dimitra and welcome to my blog! Here, I'll teach you just how much fun and easy it is to please a crowd with my versions of Greek classics. Kali Orexi as we say in Greek!
